The head of Foundation of Research on Iran Contemporary History, the cleric Hamid Rohani has commented on the book, Diaries of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, He believes the work written by the head of Iran's Experts Assembly and chairman of the Expediency Council contains many mistakes.

In an interview with the semi-official Fars news agency, Rohani an advocate of Iranian government answered to questions raised on the issue.

In your response to Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani you referred to a letter quoting the late Imam Khomeini to indicate that possibly Rafsanjani had been deceived. While the letter is not available in the compilation of Imam Khomeini letters on what basis do you argue?

The letter dates back to 1973 when Hojat-ol Eslam Hashemian, the incumbent Friday prayers leader of the city of Rafsanjan wrote a letter to Imam Khomeini explaining that Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani had asked them for the religious funds which he wanted to give them to the People's Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI). But Imam Khomeini did not approve the idea maintaining that probably Mr. Rafsanjani had been deceived.

Why letter hasn't published yet and how did you know about that?

In my visit to Rafasanjan, I saw the letter on a frame kept in the office of Hojat-ol Eslam Hashemian. Due to his respect for Mr. Rafsanjani, he has not published the letter.

It is reported that you are going to issue a criticism on Diaries of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, do you confirm it?

Yes, one of the basic objectives of Foundation of Research on Iran Contemporary History is to criticize the mistakes and contradictory statements made in works on Islamic Revolution political history, so I'm going to review Diaries of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. I believe the book is flawed since includes many mistakes. I hope these mistakes have occurred unintentionally.
